D.I.Y. Play Scales

This weekend J was ill, so I was up in the night with her and instead of going back to bed between wake-ups, I allowed myself a binge on Pinterest. I found this great idea, http://www.funwithkids.com/balancing-act-for-kids/, balance scales to use inside or out. Which instead of spending $100 on a local education resources site, I decided I would like to make my own. I spent $0, as I had all the things lying around not being used around the house (maybe except Tim's hanger that I stole from the wardrobe....shhhh). 

Materials used:
1 sturdy hanger
2 shoe laces
2 plastic plates
2 plastic bowls
scissors 

​They were a hit with J and she liked scooping sand in and pouring the sand out again. Looking forward to using them to measure other things soon.
