Simple, cheap and useful.

The wee bins work great for hiding away pens, paper and other useful paraphernalia.

Although I have a iPad and smart phone, use google docs, google calendar and am generally quite techie, I still appreciate the old wall calendar.

I decided it was high time we had one up on the wall so that Tim could quickly peruse our schedule as we were flying out the door.

Maybe J will learn the days of the week as they will be up for her to see? Wishful thinking, I think. ;)

I didn't want to spend a lot of money. I went to Warehouse Stationary and was led to the whiteboard section by the sales lady. They had some lovely framed white boards with different little sections and matching corkboards and picture frames. I thought to myself, that would look tidy and clean on the wall. I glanced down at the prices and added it all up - $95 dollars. My dreams of tidy calendar "command station" were dashed.

I thought about what I had at home already and decided all I needed was a few little touches and I could make the "command station" I had hoped for.

I grabbed 2  - $5 grey bins, a$6 wooden W and a $5 days of the week magnetic board.

At home I had an old whiteboard when I used when I was teaching full-time and a had a few magnetic changeable photo frames. We already had the world map pinboard for the last 5 years and it would go perfectly at the top as a reminder to pray for our Bright Hope Partners around the world.

I quickly whipped it all up and showed Tim. He approved and got out the drill and put up some anchors up  for me.

I even came up with a nifty way to charge our phones as the wall outlet is right next to the bins. You can just plug your phone in and drop it in the bin; out of sight from tiny hands.

Altogether I am pleased at my cheap results and am glad I didn't spend heaps of money on this project.

Reduce- reuse - recycle. ;)

Bonus: (pictured left)
I quickly whipped up this dry-erase notepad for our window by our kitchen sink using an old picture frame and a piece of scrap paper. A new little thank you note waits for Tim to read.
